Booking Through Thursday #2

Hosted by

Question(s) of the week:

All other things (writing quality, story, etc), which would you rather read?

1. Something written by a man or a woman?
2. Something with a male or female protagonist?
3. Something funny or something tragic?
4. Something short or something long with many parts?
5. Something simple or something layered?

My Answers:
  • It doesn't matter to me if a woman or man writes the story.  As long as the story is good I'll read it.
  • I love both male and female protagonist.  Most of the books I read have a female protagonist, or both and I love to read those types of books, but I'd also like to read more books with male protagonist as well...
  • I love funny stories since they make me laugh until my stomach hurts and tragic stories always manages to put my emotions in overdrive but that's also why I love tragic stories
  • I hate short stories because if I read a book and really like it I don't want it to end. Ever.
  • I love stories that are both

Origin (Lux Novel #4) Review

Title: Origin

Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout

Genre: Science-fiction

Age Group: young-adult

My Rating: 5 out of 5

Goodreads Summary:

Daemon will do anything to get Katy back.

All Katy can do is survive.

Surrounded by enemies, the only way she can come out of this is to adapt. After all, there are sides of Daedalus that don’t seem entirely crazy, but the group’s goals are frightening and the truths they speak even more disturbing. Who are the real bad guys? Daedalus? Mankind? Or the Luxen?

Together, they can face anything.

But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on?

And will they even be together?

Book Teaser #1

Hello Everyone!!!
It's once again time for....

Teaser Tuesday!

And before you say anything, I know I have been slacking on these memes.

Anyway, getting back to today's meme-

This is the first ever book that I am writing and plan on publishing.  It might or might not be part of a series.  It's a paranormal young adult book, but it also has a lot of mystery, suspense, action in it.  Romance is a major part of this novel, but it doesn't have any mature content meant only for adults.  There's murder involved, and of course hot boys and paranormal twists.

Okay, that's enough talking from me.  And now to the actual teaser:

This might or might not change before publication

"While at my previous high school in Paris, when I first started classes there, everyone was always staring and whispering, but here no one even threw me a second glance, for which I was really grateful.  I couldn’t bear to have a repeat of the same old experience that comes with being the new student, or that super duper wonderful experience I had at all while at that school.  Sure, people still looked my way, and gave me weird looks, but for the most part everyone looked bored and uninterested, which is strange seeing that this was such a small town, but then again, I am not complaining.  I’d rather they ignore me than stare or talk about me, or worse act the same way as everyone else did at the other school.  And although I should be happy about this because this is exactly what I want, I can't somehow get over the feeling that this was somehow planned and not real.  The town had always been weird, but this time something was different and I could feel it in my bones."

That's all for this post.  Let me know what you think about this teaser!

Making Up For Monday #2

Making Up For Monday is a weekly meme hosted by Tiffany Bowcut at An Avid Reader; A Wannabe Writer

This week's topic: memories

Question:
What was the first book you remember reading or being read to you?

Response:
Honestly speaking, I have really bad memory so I can't really remember the first book that I have ever read or the first ever book that someone read to me.  Unfortunately, I was not that big of a fan of reading books back than, and I didn't find many books that I liked so it was very rare that I read a book.  Good thing that it changed in sixth grade, and obviously as you can see now I am a total reading frantic maniac and love reading as much as someone loves breathing.  Okay, I totally veered off topic there ; )

Getting back to today's topic the first ever book that I really remember someone reading to me was back in second grade.  It was The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein.  Others had read many books to me before this one, but for some reason this is the only book I remember being read to me.  Probably because the story is so sweet and great!

The first ever book that I remember reading is also in second grade.  It was one of the Biscuit books by Allysa Satin Capucilli.  I can't remember the name of the book, but I know that it was one of the Biscuit books, and the story was really cute and funny.

And that's all for this post!!!! ; )

The Unbecoming Of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer #1) Review

Title: The Unbecoming Of Mara Dyer

Author: Michelle Hodkin

Genre: mystery/paranormal fiction

Age Group: young adult

My Rating: 4.5 / 5

Goodreads Summary:

Mara Dyer doesn’t think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.

It can.

She believes there must be more to the accident she can’t remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed.

There is.

She doesn’t believe that after everything she’s been through, she can fall in love.

She’s wrong.
