Against The Darkness (Cimmerian Moon #1) Review

Title: Against The Darkness
Author: A.M. Griffin

Genre: Dystopian Fiction

Age Group: Young Adult

My Rating: 4.5 / 5

Goodreads Summary:

This one time, at band camp…aliens invaded earth. Sounds like a bad riff on an old joke, doesn’t it? Unfortunately for me and my friends, it’s all too true. I thought a mess like this only happened in the movies but, as I watch the alien ships hovering over the major cities, I suddenly realize I’m a thousand miles away from my Mom. From home. From safety.

Darkness may have fallen over the world, but I won’t let it claim me. I’ll do anything I have to get back to Michigan. Yet nothing could prepare me for what we find on our trek north from Tallahassee. There’s hardly anything the aliens haven’t bombed. Survival, at any cost, is the name of the game for the few people who haven’t been killed or captured. As if trying to stay free and alive isn’t enough, I think I just met the love of my life. And he’s just the kind of bad boy who’ll tear down the walls I’ve built around my heart—then break it.

Author: A.L. Waddington

Genre: Science Fiction, Time Travel

Publication Date: April 21, 2014

The barrier between Jocelyn Timmons consciousness continues to dissolve as she better understands the two lives she lives and enormity of her newly discovered inherited gift of EVE (Essence Voyager Era) which allows her to fall asleep on one plane of existence and awaken on another as her soul travels nightly.

Present-day Jocelyn uncovers the vast wonderment of the Victorian era but soon learns that life then was not as grand for women as she has read in the classics. Still, she finds comfort in the support of family and friends; a bolstering contrast to her overly hectic, career-oriented family in the twenty-first century. Her love for Jackson Chandler strengthens across time and becomes the light she so desperately needs as the world she has always known no longer makes sense. Yet, the closer she is drawn to Jackson by their mutual ability, the more strain develops amongst those she loves in 2009.

Significant: Song Release Day & Giveaway

Hey everyone!  Happy Monday (yes I'm aware that Mondays suck) but I have some exciting news that's sure to turn your frowns upside down!  Today is the release day of Kerrigan Brianne's amazing song, Significant, that she wrote for Significance, the first book in the Significance series by the amazing author Shelly Crane.  And as a release day celebration they have a awesome giveaway for you all!  If you don't know who Ms. Crane is or familiar with her books, than you will soon enough.  But for now, please turn all your attention to Kerrigan and her beautiful song that went live today on iTunes! :)

Without further ado, I present to you all.....

Kerrigan wrote this song, Significant, inspired by the first book in the Significance series, in 2013. With a keyboard, she put it up on YouTube and sent Shelly Crane a link, telling her she wrote a song for the book and she could check it out if she wanted to. Well, Shelly did check it out…and spent the next hour boo-hooing like a big baby.

Shelly shared it on her page and her fans were pretty shocked. So, a year and half later, here we are and Kerrigan’s amazing song is available for you. Relive Maggie and Caleb’s first moments together as they realized that fate was coming for them in the best way.

Unexplainable, yet so significant…

Stormfront (Undertow #2) Review

Title: Stormfront

Author: K.R. Conway

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Age Group: Young Adult

My Rating: 4 / 5

Not long ago Eila Walker’s choices were limited: death by a bullet to the head, or at the hands of her beloved bodyguard, Raef. Now, five weeks after Raef triggered her power and she nearly leveled a historic mansion, Eila is dealing with the fall-out of her decisions. While she doesn’t remember dying in the arms of the soul thief who loves her, she knows that Raef remembers everything about the night he nearly killed her.

Now on the mend and attempting to keep one step ahead of the FBI, Eila and her team of misfits are desperate for a bit of normal. Eila is trying to navigate high school, while her BFF Ana is cautiously hanging with past-boyfriend and soul thief, Kian. Shape-shifter, MJ, is trying not to piss off his mother, while Raef is coping with his fears that Eila will never be safe.

But just as “normal” seems within their grasp, a powerfully built newcomer arrives. Raef knows the scarred man as a Blacklist Dealer – a soul thief, who peddles the names of humans who deserve to die. Eila, however, knows him as the protective hunter from the woods, who she nicknames Thor. Before long, Raef and Eila realize they’ve met the same killer, and he has one hell of a story to tell the five friends . . . if Raef doesn’t murder him first.
