Restoration (Revelation #5) By Randi Cooley Wilson Review

Title: Restoration

Author: Randi Cooley Wilson

Genre: Paranormal Fiction/ Romance

Age Group: Mature YA/NA

My Rating: 4 / 5

Would You Run
Would You Fight
Would You Fall To Fate

If your heart was full of love, could you give it all up?

Eve Collins will do anything to save those she loves, especially her gargoyle protector and mate, Asher St. Michael. With the world crumbling down around them, Eve and Asher must face the final battle between darkness and light. One that will end in great sacrifice.

When the skies darken and love in it’s truest form is tested, would you run? When death becomes silence and battle lines are drawn, would you fight? If you had to sacrifice, to save the one you loved, would you fall to fate? Would you dare to let it go?

The End, Begins.

What I Loved:

Uhh...everything? Lol.  I know that isn't very specific, but I honestly loved everything about this book!  To start out, the St. Michael clan, Gage, and Nasa as always were of course my favorite part of the book.  They are the most loyal, fierce, and funniest people ever!  I think I actually like McKenna the best in this book!  And as much as I love Asher, Eve, and Gage, I am officially declaring Abbby and Callan as my most favorite characters ever!!  I could not stop laughing because of those two.  They are just way too adorably cute and silly!

She struggles in ignorance, uncertain of what is real and what isn’t. When she emerges, Allie is different. She has always been different, but even among her extraordinary friends, she and Aidan are special.

Buried Under School Work

It's November 28 today and the last time I posted something was October 10.

Somehow it always ends up like this.  I just suddenly disappear for awhile without any explanation, and then I'll come back and post an apology and promise to be better at updating my blog.  And I'll keep that promise for that week or so.  But then again, for one reason or another, I'd just disappear again.

But this post isn't going to follow that same routine.  I am not going to be apologizing for my disappearance again because it's not always something I can control, or make promises to get better at posting more frequently.  You know why?  Because I have realized something very important that I was trying to deny before.  I realized that sometimes life just gets in the way and there are other things I have to give priority to before I can focus on my blog.

That thing is school.  I thought I'd be able to maintain a balance between reading, blogging, and my school work.  But if I have learned anything from this past month, it's that school is so hectic that there is no way for me to fully spend time on blogging or reading.  This Thanksgiving break is the first time in over a month that I have been able to pick up a book and read for hours without worrying over finishing my truck load of homework, or the project I have to start working on/finish, or the upcoming tests and quizzes for so and so class.  I can't believe how behind I am on my goodreads reading challenge, and I hate that it's probably going to remain like that and I won't be able to complete it this year.  But as much I hate it, I just can't find the proper balance between updating my blog, finding time to read, and keeping up with school.  And right now school is the most important thing for me, and what I have to focus on before anything else.

So what does that mean?  It just means that things will remain the way they have been, at least until the school year is over.  Basically will continue to just disappear for long periods of time and there won't be much posts during then, but I am going to do my best to post whenever I am able to.  Most likely it's going to be during extended breaks like this, and maybe sometimes during the weekends.  I had plans to post weekly discussions and some different things other than book reviews, but obviously that didn't work out as planned.  And I still have some review copies of books that I am desperately waiting to read, but just can't find the time for.  So for right now, my main focus is going to be finding time to read those books and doing the book reviews.  That's really all I have time to do right now.  But don't worry.  It's not going to be just book reviews all the timeI will try to post some other stuff once in a while, so it won't get too boring around here.  And I know I said I won't apologize for disappearing again since it really wasn't by choice, but I still feel like I need to say it because this is like the millionth time that this happened.  So I am sorry.  But at least now you know why and what to expect when I disappear again. :)

Ramblings Of A Bookworm: Being Judged For What You Read

Welcome to the first ever Ramblings Of A Bookworm! This is going to be a weekly post where I basically discuss, rant, ramble on about whatever is running around in my head. :)

As you can probably tell from the title, today's rant is all about how people like to judge us readers because of what type of books we choose to read.  I have been hearing about this happening a lot lately, and I have definitely had my fair share of it.  I still do.

Unfortunately, not everyone understands the passion we have for reading and the fact that we don't discriminate when it comes to the books we like to read. I am honestly tired of hearing people tell me the books I read aren't "real" books. I am just sick of hearing this same thing over and over again.  Seriously, what do you mean by "real" book?  According to dictionary.com, two of the definitions for books are:

1) a handwritten or printed work of fiction or nonfiction, usually on sheets of paper fastened or bound together within covers.

2) a work of fiction or nonfiction in an electronic format

Last time I checked, the books I read fit one or both of these definitions, so technically, I am reading a "real" book.  And you know what, even if it didn't fit those two definitions, like say if an author or friend just handed me a story to read that he/she wrote on their socks or dirty laundry, I'd still consider it a "real" book.  For me, I consider anything that I can read and be transported into a new world, even if only for a few minutes, a "real" book.

Why I Took Almost A One Month Break..."I Dissapeared" Part 2

Hello, all you lovely bookworms!  I know things have been extremely quite on this side since I did that last post on August 9 (if you are curious to see what it's about, you can go read it HERE).  But if you want to skip all that long reading, then I am more than happy to just summarize what that post was about.  It was basically all the things I was doing wrong when blogging and how I was going to start fixing it.  One of the things I had mentioned in my last post that I needed to work on was posting more frequently.

Yes, yes. I know.  It's now August 27, and it's been over three weeks and I haven't posted ANYTHING during this time.  I know it seems like I have done the exact opposite of what I said I was going to do, but I haven't forgotten about what I said.  Seriously, I didn't forget.

Here's what happened. After I wrote that post, I realized that I needed a short break to just step away from everything for a little while.  And that was the main reason behind my absence here these last few weeks.  But don't worry.  I haven't just been sitting around doing nothing but reading (ok, so I may have read for like 99.9% of the time, but that wasn't all I did).  I have been thinking about everything I said in that post, and I have a somewhat plan of how I am going to be doing things around here, so that I don't repeat the same mistakes that I had made before.

I Disappeared...Again

This is going to kind of a long post and I'll try not to bore you all to death, but I have a few things I just NEED to say.  Also please excuse me if everything seems to be all over the place. I am not the best when it comes to discussing things in an organized manner, but I'll try though. Oh, and don't be surprised if you see some adorable cats popping in once in awhile. :p

Anyway, getting to the point, at the beginning of this year I did a similar post like this (you can read it HERE) and it was basically me pointing out some of the things I realized about my blog and my resolutions to make it better.

Needless to say, I absolutely failed at that.  When I stared this blog, I was beyond excited and all I could think about was how fun and great it's going to be to finally interact with other bookworms like me.  But soon afterwards, somewhere along the way, I lost sight of why I had created this blog in the first place.

Lets start with my posts. Instead of focusing on my love for books and writing posts that I really wanted to, I started worrying about making sure everything was "PERFECT" and what people would think about my posts.  I know.  That's stupid, but I couldn't help it.  I tried to make the reviews I wrote or really anything I did here sound and look as perfect as it could be.  And in trying to do that, I feel like everything I write or do here just sounds "artificial." I feel like a robot is spewing out everything I write and not me.  I have always had a hard time expressing how I feel about something, but that wasn't the case with books.

However, in my need to make everything look and sound perfect, I put pressure on myself and practically made it impossible for me to enjoy blogging like I used to. I know that doesn't really make much sense, but what I am trying to say is that I focused on and worried more about what people thinks of my blog and my writing, than I actually did on blogging.

Stone Cold Touch (The Dark Elements #2) Review

Title: Stone Cold Touch

Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout

Genre: Paranormal Fiction/Romance

Age Group: Young Adult

My Rating: 5 / 5

Goodreads Summary:

Every touch has its price

Layla Shaw is trying to pick up the pieces of her shattered life—no easy task for a seventeen-year-old who’s pretty sure things can’t get worse. Her impossibly gorgeous best friend, Zayne, is forever off-limits thanks to the mysterious powers of her soul-stealing kiss. The Warden clan that has always protected her is suddenly keeping dangerous secrets. And she can barely think about Roth, the wickedly hot demon prince who understood her in ways no one else could.

But sometimes rock bottom is only the beginning. Because suddenly Layla’s powers begin to evolve, and she’s offered a tantalizing taste of what has always been forbidden. Then, when she least expects it, Roth returns, bringing news that could change her world forever. She’s finally getting what she always wanted, but with hell literally breaking loose and the body count adding up, the price may be higher than Layla is willing to pay…

My Thoughts:

Well first of all, I can't believe that I completely forgot to write my review for this book when it was first released and I read it right away!  But I guess it's a good thing in a way since it gave me the excuse to re-read Stone Cold Touch.  And just as I remembered, this book was simply fantastic!  Every book that I have read by JLA has always been amazing and this was no different.  It was filled with humor, action, and of course romance.
